Mein Traum war es schon immer, nach Europa zu reisen und dort zu leben. Um diesen Traum wahr werden zu lassen, habe ich mich dazu entschieden an einer deutschen Universität zu studieren, um eine gute Ausbildung und einen guten Job zu erhalten. Ich habe Deutschland aus verschiedenen Gründen gewählt: Lebensqualität, Meinungsfreiheit und ein gutes Bildungssystem. Hinzu kommt, dass ich Atheist bin und aus einem islamisch geprägten Land komme, Jordanien. Aufgrund meiner meiner anderen Ansicht von Religion war es dort schwierig für mich zu leben und soziale Beziehungen aufzubauen.
Daher habe ich ein Studierenden-Visum in Deutschland beantragt. Es gibt viele Anforderungen, um ein Visum zu bekommen und ich musste kämpfen um diese zu erfüllen. Die größte Herausforderung war es, nachzuweisen, dass ich meine Lebenshaltungskosten in Deutschland finanzieren werden kann. Ich musste nachweisen, dass ich 8040€ auf dem Konto habe. So viel Geld hatte nicht mal eben so und musste daher kämpfen, um dieses Geld zu besorgen.
Um einen Antrag für ein Studierenden-Visum stellen zu können, sollte man mindestens drei Monate vorher einen Termin in der Botschaft machen. Um überhaupt einen Termin bekommen zu können muss der*die Antragsteller*in sich über ein Onlineportal registrieren, das erst ab 24 Uhr geöffnet wird. Ich verstehe bis heute nicht, warum sie das Portal erst nach Mitternacht öffnen, um die verlangten Informationen eintragen zu können. Letztendlich habe ich einen Termin für die Visabeantragung bekommen und bin zur deutschen Botschaft in Amman gegangen. Dort ist es wie im Gefängnis mit vielen Sicherheitsbarrieren und die Antragsteller*innen können die Botschaft nicht betreten solange sie keinen Termin haben. Nur um eine Frage zu stellen, muss man den Sicherheitsmann fragen und er leitet dann die Frage an das Personal in der Botschaft weiter. Die Botschaft per Telefon zu erreichen ist nicht möglich. Wenn man also eine Frage bezüglich seines Antrags hat, muss man persönlich zur Botschaft gehen, die jedoch nur eine Stunde, zwischen 7:30 und 8:30 Uhr für Antragsteller*innen geöffnet hat. Dazu kommt, dass nicht nur jordanische Bewerber*innen hier ihren Visumsantrag stellen können. Die Botschaft in Amman ist für die drei Länder Jordanien, Syrien und Irak verantwortlich, daher ist es dort sehr voll und eng.
Ich lebe nun in Deutschland und sobald ich mein Studium beendet habe, möchte ich ein Visum für Arbeitssuchende beantragen. Ich hoffe das wird nicht wieder eine solch schreckliche Erfahrung wie mit meinem Studierenden-Visum. I wünsche mir, dass die deutsche Regierung das Visaverfahren verbessert und es flexibler gestaltet.
My dream has always been to travel to Europe and live there, and to make this dream come true, I decided to study at a German University in order to be able to get good education and a good job.
I chose Germany because of many reasons, the quality of life, freedom of speech, and a good education system. Moreover, I am an atheist coming from an Islamic country, Jordan, and it was hard for me to live there and to build social relationships because of my different view about religion.
Therefore I applied for a student Visa in Germany. There are many requirements to get the visa and I was struggling to fulfil these requirements, the biggest obstacle was to proof the financial ability to finance life expenses in Germany and it was 8040 Euro, I didn’t have this amount of money in cash, therefore I was struggling to get this amount of money.
To apply for a student visa, you should get an appointment before at least three months, in order to get an appointment the applicant should apply via web portal that is open after midnight, I do not understand until now, why they activate this portal only after midnight to register the required information. Anyway I get an appointment for visa application, thus I went to German embassy in Amman, and it was like a prison with many security barriers, and the applicant can’t enter the embassy, only through an appointment and even to ask a question you have to ask the security guy then he will ask the employees in the embassy. Contacting the embassy via phone is impossible, so If I have to ask questions regarding my application, I have to go to embassy that is just opened for applicants for just one hour from 7:30 to 8:30 AM, and it’s not only Jordanian applicants can apply for visa in Amman: the embassy in Amman is for three countries Jordan, Syria and Iraq, therefore it was very crowded and very small.
I live now in Germany, and after completing my studies, I want to apply for a work search visa, and I hope that it will not be a terrible experience like applying for a student visa, and I wish that the German government improves the process of visas and makes it more flexible.
